"is anxiety a curse"

She was admitted after a cervical disc herniation which lead to a neck surgery. She was paralyzed. Her arm and legs were off,no movement,no feelings. She was left mostly with emotions. She was anxious, she was crying. That was all very understandable as who would not be if ever in similar situation.

Then good things started to happen. Her arms started to move, her breathing got better and she was able to talk on a volume compensated wean.

The dilemma was her continuous struggle to feel out of control. She was having anxiety all the time so much so that it was compromising her medical care.Luckily help was available right there in hospital.

I have read a quote "a free and relaxed mind is always in meditation".I have also read that "there is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever".

To some, anxiety is a curse,no amount of relaxation technique and or chemicals make it completely go away.

To others, a little bit of anxiety is a motivation to do well in all. Those are the one who know that keep watching your back all the time may lead you to trip and a fall.

The presence of anxiety, of a depressive mood or of a conflict within the mind, does not stamp any individual as having a psychological problem because, as a matter of fact, these qualities are indigenous to the species. (Quote by - Charles Goodstein)

Trusting in the Creator Almighty alongwith some helpful session from a religious psychologist does help a lot.

I am a chronic worrier. I think it has to do with being a perfectionist. Maybe worriers are just wired that way??? I don't think it means I don't have enough faith in God. I hope not anyway.

Have a wonderful 2012!

Your post is motivating, but yes, anxiety is too difficult to uproot once it holds you in it.....with time, experience and most Importantly "BLIND" faith in God its starts to wary off

Well said. Anxiety is disliked. It's a poisons curse that suffocates the joy in life out of a person. It's up to each individual to find a cure for it, and THAT is one heck of hard work.

Anxiety actually is being studied as a science. Alice Park wrote the Time magazine cover article, Dec 5, 2011 called: The Two Faces of Anxiety: It can paralyze you--or help you move faster. New science is revealing more about the upside of angst.

I haven't had yet read the article but perhaps it might of interest to your readers...

It does mention "For all the suffering anxiety causes, the fact is, the species would not be better off without it--and we might not be here at all. At its core, anxiety is a reaction, an arousal to a stimulus that we perceive as dangerous or threatening."

The article does quote Sally Winston, Co-Director, Anxiety & Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland: "Anxiety itslef is neither helpful nor hurtful. It's your response to anxiety that is helpful or hurtful."
